Fall 2021 Meeting

CURATING ART of the GLOBAL MIDDLE AGES

A Virtual Roundtable

Saturday, September 25

1-3pm Roundtable discussion
3-4pm Conversation about curatorial careers

How has the shift in medieval studies toward a “global” perspective changed the ways that we think about exhibiting medieval art today?
What are the challenges and opportunities that museums offer for displaying art of the middle ages in ways that speak to the intercultural connection, fluidity, and friction that characterized the medieval world?
How does appreciation of medieval intercultural realities counter the misuse and distortion of medieval history and visual culture in the public sphere today?
This event is co-organized by The Delaware Valley Medieval Association and Bryn Mawr College and generously sponsored by the Center for Visual Culture, the Program in Museum Studies, the Program in Middle Eastern Studies, and the Office of the President, Bryn Mawr College.
